And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 2 Samuel 23:4
The rain of night can be so sweet. Depending on where you live the summertime rain can be both refreshing and a little alarming. Usually, the summer rains are associated with thunder and lightning. These things can alarm even the bravest amongst us. Think about this though, the afternoon rain can leave the ground wet, but if the sun returns hot and humid, the plants can boil and so can the fruit on the vine, but nightly rain has time to soak into the ground, causing the plants to absorb the needed moisture and nutriments.
Our God is like the wonderful nightly rain. Some of my readers might ask how do I get nightly rain from this passage. Notice that this speaks of the morning light, the rising of the sun and the clear morning without clouds. I believe this is most like the earth before the fall when the Lord caused a mist to cover the ground. The morning is the best time to remember all the Lord has done for us. Not only has He redeemed those that believe in Him, He also calls us to early morning relationship.
There is a song that goes, “In the morning when I rise, give me Jesus.” The early morning calls us to worship. We open our eyes and the freshness of the day is with us. We have opportunity to call on the Lord first thing. We have opportunity to read His word. We have opportunity to pray and have relationship with Him. Have you ever woke and said, “Good morning my Lord”? It is the Lord who has given us the day. It is the Lord who watched over us in the night. With renewed energy we can embrace this day.
Instead of smelling the coffee… rejoice in the new day He has given you.
