Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1
To be forthright this morning, I can’t eat and go to bed on a full belly. I begin thinking of all kinds of things and many times, these things stay with me till morning. I woke this morning thinking about living off the grid. I suppose what got me thinking that way was watching a particular television series about life in the back country. Many times the people living in remote places live off grid (alone and independent) and the cameraman catches the lives of these folks. Mind you, it isn’t appealing, but intriguing to me.
As I gained conscience from my nightly sleep and dreams, I asked myself, “Is this a warning from God? Should I be preparing for something I cannot see?” That is when another more prevailing thought came to me, “What saith the scriptures?” For believers, that is the real question. Am I suppose to live like a hermit and not live telling others of Christ? Have I felt His call to a remote place to prepare for something more? The answer for me is, No. I have been called to be a witness of Christ and His marvelous grace. If I have been called to spread the Word, how then can I hide away from others? This settled the question in my mind. I am not to be alone, but as Jesus taught and showed in His life, go to the lost and tell them of Him.
I would that we all spent time knowing more of the will of God. Of course, to know this more we need to spend time in His Word. Every verse is filled with wonder and truth. While I write so much to explain the obvious, the simple truth is this: Man’s thoughts and words can never compare to God’s Word. In His Word is life. In His Word is living. In His Word are things for today and for tomorrow. In His Word is the message we need to share. If there is waiting (and all should wait upon the Lord) let us wait, knowing the Word and spending time in the Word. In that way, we can preach the truth, live for Him and be with Him daily.
It should be our prayer to know Him more. Something to think about.
