The Judgment of Rain

July 21, 2022 By C. Michael Prater Leave a Comment

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it. Ezekiel 13:13

In my morning readings, I read this particular verse regarding the judgment of God on the false prophets. Many people think that God will not use nature to judge the wrongdoings of others. Yet, by withholding His grace, the judgment comes and so does penalty of sin. Simply put, the storms of life can bring greater damage to a person because their falsehoods are exposed.

We are a people that want to know the future. I recall that a young lady, with whom I worked, asked me about the consequences of the first gulf war. I told her that I feared for America. We could lose the war because of all the evil our country was committed in the past. I said it could be a prolonged war and a damaging one that could cost us billions of dollars. When the war ended after four days she approached me and said, “You were wrong.” Now look where we are at. Literally, the cost of keeping peace has cost us millions if not billions.

People try to ignore the judging rain sent from God. There are those that want to scoff at Him, and think we are not under His eye. They are wrong. We say we want our rights. We have them and what is the cost. The storm has begun. We say we want more. We have seen money printed with reckless abandonment. We have more, but what is the cost? We prayed for work. We have many jobs available and need laborers. Many would rather feed off the fat of the land, but the fat has become leaner and leaner. We can’t keep going on like this.

Remember this: Grace and Mercy are given by God as He sees fit. Grace isn’t a license to sin. Grace is given that we might know Him. God has been merciful to an unworthy people. We can easily say that He has been patient with us. I fear His patience will wear thin. Then were will that leave us?
