This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
You ever get up on the wrong side of the bed? Your personality been so sour that even the funniest joke can’t cheer you. When people ask you, “What’s wrong?” You bite the questioner’s head off and reply in your greatest lion voice, “Nothing is wrong!” Then you look at them with such anger they melt.
I have news for you, not everyday is a great day and sometimes it is hard to rejoice. Still this day is the day the Lord has made for you and me. I have discovered that the sun will rise and set upon my bad attitude and there is nothing to hinder it. I can say to myself that tomorrow will be better, but unless I confront that which is wrong it may be another day like the one I am experiencing. Yep, it’s pretty sad to say the least when I feel like the weight of the world has me down.
I find in myself that I try and fix it on my own. I will analyze myself and try to figure things out, and the result is, well, not much change. I can argue that I have a right to feel off sometimes. Then why don’t I feel better? When I am in a disagreeable condition it is because I am dealing with an issue that needs my Lord’s attention. It is then that I find the strength to come to Him and ask for His help.
You might marvel when I say I can find the strength… well, it is easier to talk to someone, lean on someone else and go as far as to try and fix myself. It is hard to admit defeat and just go to the Lord. I find when I really go to him I get a real answer. In my Father’s presence I find peace. I can talk with Him openly and I never fear that He will hit the “Smite” button. When I finish my prayer I usually ask myself why didn’t I just go to him in the first place?
I once saw a church sign that read: When all else fails, try God. I shook my head and thought: Before all else fails, go to God. That is what we need. I don’t know what you might be facing. God does and He wants to hear from His children. Go to Him and tell Him. Begin the day with Him and He will change your perspective on things. Oh, and don’t rush the time with your Heavenly Father. When you get ready to get up from prayer imagine Him asking, “Is there anything else?” If there is talk to Him about it. He will hear you out. After all, He made the day and He has all the time in the world.
