Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? Isaiah 53:1
We live in a sheltered world, but not too long ago that wasn’t the case. I speak primarily of the United States, because in many parts of the world the freedom of religious faith doesn’t exist. The action of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ around the world and here in the USA is fading, but not dead. I know I write most days on this website and seek to spread the truth, but so few hear or read.
I say it wasn’t too long ago that religious freedom wasn’t heard of. Truth be known that throughout human history many have tried to do away with the truth. Adam and Eve brought sin to every man, woman and child. It wasn’t long after that Cain killed Abel. We read the word and the haunting words, “Only evil continually,” is given us in Genesis 6. The world was destroyed by the Global Flood of Noah’s day only to see evil return with a vengeance. The people left the ark and moved to build a place called Babel. There they tried to defy God once again and even offered human sacrifices. Again, God scattered the people. Over and over, we see the rise of God’s word, the flood of evil and then the consequences of sin.
Still, there is one hope. That hope is in Jesus Christ and His true Word. Jesus did not call us to be militant and force others into believing, but as He walked the earth so are we to deliver His message of hope. The apostles preached Jesus and souls were saved, some few and some many. Where Jesus was received a wonderful peace was found and the people rejoiced in their Redeemer. Evil on the other hand despised the truth and sought to kill the believers as soon as they could be found. Such was a man named Saul of Tarsus, that is, until Jesus called him. In that is the text verse of today. “And whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?”
Sin is in us all. People want a god that will cater to their thoughts, desires, expectations and more. Who would want Jesus who promises eternal life and lasting faith over earthly wealth? We preach the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. We preach, “He Lives” in hope that the Holy Spirit will reveal Christ to the lost. As I said, this is a freedom we haven’t had too long. Soon, we will recognize the Pilgrims coming to the New England shores and their desire for religious freedom. It would take a Revolutionary War to bring it to the States. We as God’s people have forgotten we have a responsibility. The text again said, “Who will believe our report?” If the lost is to believe, they must first hear.
So while blogs like this tell the story, the real message is to all we come in contact with. Will you hear the message?
